Ken and Kirsten of Kipuka Trading are having a great year in Tucson in spite of what the Tucson Papers are reporting

We are doing both the Whole Bead and Best Bead Shows here in Tucson. Although the papers say that attendance is down sixty percent this year, the two shows have been surprisingly good. We were a bit anxious setting up because the lack of cars in larger venues is apparent. But, we are managing to pull off two good shows here, in spite of the economic climate.

Cindy Hines of Orange City, Florida reports that she is buying some good beads at very good prices this year in Tucson

I called Cindy Hines this morning
who is out in Tuscon working for Talisman Beads.

She was upbeat and having lots of fun.

Cindy said the show was slower than years past but that sales were ok for Talisman Bead.

Cindy was also enjoying the good prices she was getting on some of the gemstone beads she was buying.

She said she was not buying to much since she is feeling a little poor these days. I said Cindy "you had better not come home with any money" if the deals are that good. Spend it all. You have a job when you get back at Flamingo Beads

Marvin Schwab of the The Bead Warehouse - Tucson

Talked to Marvin Schwab of the The Bead Warehouse live in Tucson this morning.

Marvin did not set up this year as he heads into a new lifestyle of a little bit less work and more retirement.

Marvin was out walking around in Tucson and doing some shopping as I talked to him and he said it was very slow.

He did however say the higher end items could be had for some good prices. So if you like higher end it is a good time to head out and do some Tucson Gem Show Shopping

Lower end items were in a free for all price drop.
Marvin said there was lots of this out for sale but he did not see it selling very well at all.

Book that weekend flight in to Tucson and it might be worth your trip this year.

Tanny of Sona Imports called today

Tanny of Sona Imports called me today to let me know that Tucson is starting out slower than it has in the last few years. He said that somes prices were dropping because of stiffer competion coupled with not enough buyers.

Tanny is holding out hopes that the buyers will still show up towards the weekend. He is in for the long haul.

Beads are off and selling in 2009.

Record customer attendance at our first 3 shows of 2009 helped us jump start beads in 2009. Beads are the only economic stimulus package we know. It really is a true bead love affair. Thanks for the many nice comments from our valued customers. Those comments do help us continue on strong for "The Love Of Beads". So again thanks and hope to see you "Down The Street" very soon.
